There are very beautiful places in Haiti with lovely people. Visiting a department in the country does not at all sum up life in the country as a whole. In Port au Prince it is very dangerous, I myself am Haitian and have never visited Port-au-Prince before. But I am an agronomist in training which allowed me to visit many other places in the country, especially in rural areas. I meet a lot of people and they are very nice.

Here's my scary story and it beats all of yours. I was driving through Chicago and exited off of I-94 local onto East 83rd street. You can imagine what happened next. That was scary!!!!

Hey, Drew. I don't know if you'll ever see my comment, but I hope you do and at least reply with a thumbs up. I appreciate and admire your sense of adventure, candor about the realities of your visits, and the willingness to find the good in people as much as possible, regardless of where you may be and the prevailing beliefs they may have.
You've eaten/drunk things I'd be afraid to due to how it may affect my gut biome, but you've seemed to overcome them (at least in the few videos I've seen). You obviously do your diligence prior to arriving at your destinations, are very affable and give off a friendly vibe, mixed with being down-right brave and/or foolishly stupid and ignorant. Having watched this particular video, I'd say you are a little bit lucky as well.
I believe that most people in the world are inherently good, are willing to proudly expose a part of themselves and their culture to outsiders, but also naturally wary of that which they are unfamiliar with.
Correct me if I'm wrong, but I think you're from Chicago and are of Jewish heritage? Even in the US, that can sometimes get you in trouble, but I can't even imagine traveling to Yemen or Syria, etc. and being identified as an American Jew and feeling comfortable enough to continue with your travels.
Hell, I grew up in Huntington Beach, CA, and being a Jew there, I had to deal with a fair amount of harassment and disdain.

Best to you, continue on your travels, be safe, and thank you for being a positive influence and example to those whom you encounter. The world needs to see that there are many who do not fit the stereotypical "ugly American" tourist, and Americans need to see that most of the world doesn't revolve around us all the time.

I once got chased by a crazy guy with a knife, and ran towards a guard with a M16 automatic rifle , who fired above the guys head ,to make him drop the knife .
    This was in Palestine.

Me and my fiance used to illegally ride freight trains and hitchhike. We were in the Kirby yard in San Antonio trying to make our way to california so we get on a train and start going. We fell asleep and woke up in the middle of the night to the train stopping and we realized we had no water so we got off. Ofc our phone was dead so no idea where we were. We had a weird feeling cuz the houses just looked different, everything was real run down. We noticed a Tamaulipas license plate which made us really nervous then a Texas plate. We thought ok maybe we're in a border town but in America. Then my fiance noticed the "ALTO" sign amd we knew we were screwed lol come to find out we ended up in Nuevo Laredo. alot happened after that. We tried flagging down multiple people for help, saw dead and stray dogs all over the place, got followed by a gang of kids/teenagers, my fiance slept in a gravel lot with stray dogs barking at us all night while I watched. We walked probably 5 miles back to America as soon as morning came. We saw police on armored trucks with assault weapons. We stopped at the Rio Grande river right before crossing back into America and there were more military police with big ass guns on boats. We crossed into America and yeah ended up being fine. A Mexican man prayed for us and gave us rice and beans. Then we hitchhiked out of there and some biker guy picked us up. We stopped at a border patrol check and he started getting all nervous and they searched his car. We ended up being ok but thats when he decided to tell us he had an illegal gun in the car 😂 we made it to san antonio after that so a whole like 3 or 4 fucking days just to end up in the same place. Its a great story now tho

I caught cholera on Borneo 6 weeks ago. Can totally relate.

I was probably 2 hours away from dying of acute electrolyte shock and acidosis. First time I've thought i was gonna die.

Some locals saved me by tossing me into a Hilux and driving me through the rainforest to the local hospital. Owe em my life
