I rememebr an Australian lad in a hostel in Istanbul sadi to me he'd travelled the globe for 6 months and it was 'amazing- but he was depressed and hadn't been out for 3 days as he missed 'Vegamite, his Mum and his sister'. Which was basically his way of saying human nature is to miss home/family. But I appreciated how real he was. Just like this video.
This is very common imo. I have several friends, who tried to run away from their intrinsic problems at home.
No matter where you travel, you always have to return to yourself
Happiness is not always getting what you think you want. But learning how to want what you have
No matter where you go. There you are!
Stop and smell the roses I whe all around the world and was borin lol
“No matter where you go, there you are.”
I think travel is the bees knees
It's rare for me to comment on a YouTube video! I just want to thank you David cause what you said did reasonate to me! I'm almost 24 and I started university during COVID. I was deeply in crisis and depressed cause I cannot fathom living in the cycle of working and buying in order to fit in and I was escaping from my responsibility. I traveled around Europe cause I found cheap Ryanair flights and I thought I would find relief and eventually happiness. I was deeply wrong because I was just escaping and dissociating by myself and it took me to understand that it's all in our head and I needed to change internally. Wandering around Europe just made me realize that It doesn't matter where you go or how much you travel it's not gonna help you solve yourself on the inside! I'm from southern Italy and listening to what my ancestors lived in the countryside surrounded by family was a more fulfilling life emotionally speaking cause due to social media people live always by themselves and there isn't occasion to actually get to know each other deeply. We're always on a rush and we don't value companionship anymore.
"I was Born Under a Wondering Star". The song says it all.
As an American, I won't let international travel ruin my life either – I want to pay for that kind of harassment.
Dude was traveling broke, not how it’s done. Guarantee if he wasn’t broke his experience would be 10x it’s too stressful when you’re doing that always worrying about money.
It seems clear you lacked purpose.
I've never considered travel to be especially appealing. To me, the money spend wandering about the world is far better put to use in investing or something more fungible.
spot on – Im coming to the same conclusion. I know it's me, just wished traveling away would help. But it didn't.
He’s speaking faxx, traveling won’t make you happy unless you already are
5:59 wow it's a cabin near Adrasan on Lycian way in Turkiye. Did you walked it? I didn't find any video about it on this channel.
I walked its eastern part on May 2025 and western on November 2024. To me it's one of the best places to hike.
I landed in India with OCD. Nightmares ensued. 2 years later, I'm still in South Asia and enjoying being independent.
"No matter where you go, there you are"
I notice long term travelers carry a lot of issues. Traveling is just a distraction and when they need to go home they will be hit hard.
I know these digital nomads who are traveling for a lifetime. It's possible. They never go back home
At last found someone sensible in YouTube ….reality of life is the happiness within not external. Best wishes.
So basically traveling did help you find peace not ruin your life 😂🙏 very nice! Cheers mate
This might seem like a very religious "comment", but no lie I also dealt with being unfulfilled It was not until I gave my life to Jesus Christ that everything changed. It is a peace that surpasses all understanding. It is very hard to put it into words, but it truly cured me. For anyone reading this: Jesus has the water that Will NOT Leave you Thirsty. He is Truth.
We need to leave in order to come back to peace 😊 I left too and I changed a lot that is to that experience and environment did allow me to but until I looked inside I wasn’t able to recognise that peace within.
