The Mediterranean region is basically a real life Narnia or Middle Earth from Lord of the rings. Think about it, throughout history it was the only place of its kind that was surrounded by different races of people who wouldve seen eachother as different types of creatures from vastly different epic looking civilizations. They got into insane, movie like confrontations/battles with eachother and developed the most advanced societies in the world for thousands of years. The fact that the scenery is so epic as well just tops it all off. Other parts of the world like the Americas for example were only inhabited by one specific looking type of people and nothing very interesting ever happened comparatively speaking.
