We been RV'ing for over 20 years with a small 24 ft. class C RV (30 amp service) and we've found out early on that KOA's are really Expensive to stay at. We' prefer State Parks (about 1/4 the price) Most State Parks have restrooms with showers for tent campers.
KOA tried to charge me 42 dollars for a tent site, no thank you!
Stayed at the one in Cody WY and it was ok but not as nice as the ones you show
In other words, your a light weight. Not for me. Used them 40 years ago.$8.00 for camp site. Free showers and coffee. Now they are to noisey and crowded . 74 years old vietnam veteran. I'll stealth camp. To each their own
I get your point. All good options to have. For me if im looking for all that ive discovered Candlewood/Staybridge suites. On average much less expensive and they are basically apartments with everything from kitchen to bedroom to livingroom. Plus laundry, pool, hottub, plenty of parking and usually very close to supermarket, gas and restaurant. Most also have a bbq area with grills. However, KOA does have the outdoor/woods element that i will say can be incredible. Like you said though if youre just riding in then out the next morning just something to consider. We have done quite a few trips were the Staybridge was the "destination" in someplace like utah, and then everyday was a different daytrip anywhere from 100-300 miles but without the need to pack and carry everything. Just a thought.
Extremlly overpriced for what you get
Thanks for the ideal. Currently, I car camp with Subaru Outback Wilderness. But the plan is when I get my Honda Goldwing in a couple of years is to the ride hard, and your video just gave me a place to stay.
KOA cabins around here (Georgia) are anywhere from $175-225 a night. It's not a cost effective way to travel – that's just my opinion. You can get full on actual multi-story, multi-bedroom, cabin on VRBO for that much, or less.
KOA's are not cheap. That's why he didnt mention the price.
Anyone know cabin cost
Awesome video thanks for the info! Maybe the prices would have been great.
I'm glad you are enjoying your trip. But KOAS are a rip-off.
Great information!!
Thanks
Good ideas! Much more reasonably priced than a standard run of the mill motel.
KOAs are great. I have stayed at a lot of them. The owners/hosts always are great people. They are safe, clean and relaxing. I have also used KOA's to park a truck and trailer for $5/day when we have trailered out and then started our trip. If you get the chance visit and stay at the West Glacier KOA near Glacier NP. It is awesome!
Nice places but not budget friendly
At 71, I have slowed down on traveling, but KOA was my go to camp. Always moto friendly, clean restrooms and showers, and equality between the tenters to the big rigs. By the way I still enjoy pitching a tent but when it's raining nothing beats a roof over your head. Thats when the basic cabin is the "Best Western" but more affordable. 👍👍
Totally agree! Riding across the country KOA makes life a little easier.
KOA’s are a great idea. I’ve stayed in them for Scouting trips as well. Not cabins though.
Haven’t stayed at a KOA in thirty years. Man have they ever improved. Will def look into them in the future.
you're right, KOA's are great. recently discovered for myself a few years ago on a motorcycle road trip and was pleasantly surprised at what a great place they are to stay. since then I have stayed at them for both tent camping and the cabins. as you put it, they just make everything easy, it just ends up being a fun place to stay. have since always looked forward to going back.
Very nice and great information. Thanks
I look for camps the are free
This is great – makes it so easy for riders to stay and you can't beat those views!!!
I totally agree. Stayed at several over the years and usually get the basic cabin when I'm on the bike. Got a basic cabin at Custer KOA for the Sturgis rally a couple years ago and it was perfect, close to good riding and very affordable.
Good video thanks for the information 👍👍
Looks nice, I’ll have to check it out. Do you make reservations or can you just ride in and get a cabin?
